A New, Better Health System
We will disband the corrupt and ineffective HSE. The Irish people pay well above the OECD average for third world healthcare. This must end. It is a matter of life and death.
We will look to how other countries operate their health systems and subsequently appoint a panel of experts from those countries who will be tasked with the construction of a new health service based upon international best practice. This health service will be given capital funds in order to build the necessary infrastructure to better serve the Irish people.
While establishment parties continue to let our citizens die in hospital corridors and A&E waiting rooms, AfI will declare a national emergency until the trolley crisis is dealt with.
The current mental health budget of €84m will be increased to €150m and expert opinion sought on how to transform our mental health services to make them more effective. We will take action to combat the epidemic of suicide in Ireland, particularly among men.
We will work with the pharmaceutical industry and leading retailers to force them to bring down the cost of prescription and non-prescription drugs. There is no good reason as to why Irish people pay sometimes 1000% more for medicines than their British counterparts.
AfI will pay doctors and nurses fairly while seeking to recruit thousands more.
